The latest update from the Office for Veterans' Affairs outlines what has been achieved so far and what the government will do next, in partnership with stakeholders, to support veterans and their families, including around 3,385 veterans in the Birkenhead constituency.
The six monthly report, published on 22 September focuses on three main areas:
- Transforming services for veterans
- Understanding our veteran community
- Recognising our veterans’ contribution to society
It updates on the work set out in The Strategy for our Veterans (2018) and the Veterans’ Strategy Action Plan: 2022 to 2024.
Johnny Mercer MP, Minister for Veterans' Affairs, said:
"I am clear that while the UK government has committed to a vision for her veterans, the success of this mission can only truly be measured by what it feels like to be a veteran in the UK today. I am personally committed to this mission, and am determined to see it through"
Last month, the Government reported on the production of Nuclear Test Medals underway ahead of Remembrance Sunday while in July the Government launched a refresh of the Veterans’ Gateway, which will improve access to welfare services for ex-forces personnel.
